When I first thought about homeschooling my children almost 3 years ago now, I spent so much time googling and researching everything I could get my hands on. We started homeschooling during the peak of all the crazy in 2020. My daughter had been in school for 2.5 years prior as she had started public school at age 3 in early childhood. However, as she was home during 2020 and I had to really take her 4K into my own hands (they didn’t really have online school for 4/5 year olds).
We technically started homeschooling while my oldest, Kali, was still enrolled in public school. The school was sending little projects for her to complete and little dances and songs to watch, but I really wanted to keep pushing letter and number recognition, so we started pulling free resources from teachers pay teachers.
As her Kindergarten year approached I realized I did not want her going back into the public school system with all the crazy unknowns in place and being in Kindergarten the school system didn’t really have a good option in place for in person or remote learning.
With all my researching I had landed on a few curriculum we really wanted to try and from there I found Timberdoodle . Which is what we used for her Kindergarten homeschool year. I went with an Elite NonReligious Kindergarten Kit that worked wonderfully for us.
Since that very first two years of homeschooling we have been evolving and changing and I am sure we will continue to evolve and change as each year passes by.
This 2022/2023 school year will be our 3rd year of homeschooling. We will have a 2nd grader, a preschooler, and a young toddler. I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for us.
